P/3 Ice Investigations

5th Feb 2020

P2/3 have had great fun for the last few weeks, experimenting with ice. Firstly, we put ice cubes in different places in the school to see where it would melt the fastest. The pupils discovered the ice melted fastest on the radiator because it was the warmest and it melted slowest in the fridge because it was the coldest place. Next, we came to school and 5 of our toy bears had been froze in ice and we had to free them. We used salt, sand, sugar, water and powder to try and unfreeze the bears fast. The pupils made predictions and ensured it was a fair test by using the same amount of each item. We were shocked to find out that the salt melted the ice the fastest to release the yellow bear and the powder was the slowest item to melt the ice and release the bear.  Great work by P2/3!
